The prize includes:
Additional electrical or plumbing work, oil tank removal, hazardous-material remediation, structural changes and major ductwork are not included. Work on an existing heat pump, air conditioner, coil or refrigerant piping is also excluded.
Any work outside the prize’s scope will be discussed with the winner before installation.

JCD’s Oldest Furnace Challenge: Contest Rules
Organizer and eligibility
No purchase necessary. This contest is organized by JCD Refrigeration Inc.
Open to homeowners aged 18 or older whose primary residence is within one of the 43 municipalities and sectors listed on JCD’s Areas We Serve page. One entry per property during this contest.
Contest period
Entries open on October 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. and close on November 8, 2026 at 11:59 p.m., Montreal local time.
Entries must be submitted through the contest entry form before the deadline. JCD may begin verifying entries during the contest period.
Eligible furnaces
The furnace must be a residential forced-air furnace installed at the entrant’s primary residence and operational at verification. Electric, oil, natural gas and propane furnaces are eligible.
The entrant must own the property and have authority to approve the replacement.
Portable heaters, boilers and equipment that has already been removed are not eligible.
Entry and age verification
Submit your contact information, property address and photos of the furnace, including its model and serial number plate where available.
Age is determined by the furnace’s manufacture date, using manufacturer information, equipment markings or other reliable supporting records. If the identification plate is missing or unreadable, the entrant may provide other photos of the equipment and a written explanation. JCD may also assess other available evidence during a site visit.
Entries must contain accurate information. JCD may request additional photographs, documents or access to the equipment to verify eligibility and age. An entry cannot be confirmed if its age or eligibility cannot be reasonably established.
Winner selection and announcement
The oldest verified eligible furnace wins one grand prize.
The winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, once eligibility verification is complete and the prize is accepted.
The selected entrant will be contacted using the telephone number or email address provided and must respond within five business days of notification. If the selected entrant does not respond, declines the prize or does not meet the eligibility requirements, JCD may select the next-oldest verified eligible furnace.
Installation will be scheduled directly with the confirmed winner.
Grand prize
One new gas or electric furnace, supplied and installed by JCD.
The prize includes:
- A furnace selected by JCD to suit the property and installation requirements
- A Wi-Fi thermostat
- A MERV 11 filter cabinet
- Standard sheet metal modifications
- Standard installation labour and materials
- Removal and disposal of the existing furnace
The replacement type depends on the existing system, site conditions and applicable installation requirements. An eligible oil furnace will be replaced with electric heating. The prize does not include a heat pump or air conditioner.
Work outside the prize
The following are excluded:
- Additional electrical work, including panel or service upgrades
- Plumbing work
- Oil tank removal or disposal
- Asbestos or other hazardous-material remediation
- Structural changes or major ductwork modifications
- Work involving an existing heat pump, air conditioner, coil or refrigerant piping
Any required work outside the prize will be identified and priced separately before installation. No additional work will proceed without the homeowner’s approval.
If required work outside the prize cannot be completed or the homeowner declines its cost, the installation cannot proceed. JCD may then offer the prize to the next-oldest verified eligible entry.
Prize conditions
The prize must be installed at the verified winning property. It is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Photos and personal information
The winner agrees to photographs of the existing furnace and completed installation for contest coverage. The winner is not required to appear personally in photographs. JCD will obtain separate consent before publishing the winner’s name, image or other identifying details.
Personal information is used to administer entries, verify eligibility, contact the winner and arrange the prize installation. It is not sold. It may be shared with service providers only as needed to administer the contest.
Entering does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails.
